Love You to Death

Thanks to the Hugel spotlight I now have a level 70 Ninja, a 70 Gypsy, and a 62 Sniper.  The EXP is too good.

 

I got a Bradium Earring [1] with a Phen in it for 30m a few days ago.  Cleaned me out, but it's a decent Phen filler until I can get a Diabolus Ring [1].  Plus it can be used on one of my other characters, or else sold; it has a pretty good resale value, since both the base accessory and the card are useful for caster classes.

 

I had some Kafra Points left over so I got a few March Lucky Boxes and tonight some April Groove Packs.  No HBPs out of the Lucky Boxes, unfortunately, nor did I get a WCP or CD out of the Groove Packs.  I did get a Holy Marching Hat [1] out of one Lucky Box, and two Slotting Ads out of the Groove Packs, so it wasn't a total wash.  I think I'm going to sell the HMH [1], since I already have a Benevolent Guardian [1].

I've been busy!

 

...Well, not all that busy, actually.  I've gotten a couple of levels on my AB, which considering my usally snail-pace of leveling is rather an acheivement.  I've also been plugging away at getting the gear I need to be fully functional as a support.  I'm currently wearing a +4 Orleans Gown of Ares to keep my cast from beint interrupted; I just acquired a Diabolus Robe [1] and I'm trying to save up for a matching Diabolus Ring [1], as well as a Phen Card to go in it.  I'm planning on questing for a Bradium Earring [1] for my other accessory, but I don't know what I'm going to put in it.  A Zerom card, maybe?  I'm enjoying the larger playerbase, but the economy has gotten seriously out of whack since the merge.  Everything is so expensive now!  D:

 

After the merge, I joined up with Eternal Dao.  My old guild, No Drama Society, was full of great people...but my odd schedule kept me from actually doing anything with them, I was usually logging on as they were logging off.  A lot of people in Eternal Dao are from Europe and Asia, though, so no matter when I log on there's almost always someone I can talk to or party with.  They're an awesome bunch, and I've done some ET runs and TI parties with them.  I'm really having fun!  <3

So I had some Kafra points left over after buying a crapton of WoE pot boxes (I level my lowbies with them), so I decided to buy some Silvervine Fruit boxes and see what I could get for Malangdo enchants on some of my stuff.  I'm pretty pleased with the results, so I didn't bother resetting any of the enchantments, though I might reset what's on my Dea Staff later.

 

Here's what I got:

+4 Holy Stick [1]: Spell 5, INT +5

+5 Dea Staff [1]: INT +2, Spell 2

+4 Fortune Sword: AGI +5, Sharp 2

Nemesis: AGI +3, AGI +2

 

I also decided to enchant my Archangel Wings, and ended up getting STR +2; not the greatest enchant, but it will work well for the RK and Sura I'm planning on building later so I'm not complaining.

 

So, I'm looking forward to the 3-way merge coming up soon.  I hope to be able to play with you all.  <3

German class is going well, except I never remember to do the homework because the online workbook sucks ass.  But I've done well on the tests and journals, and my work on the quizzes is improving, so I think I can scrape a B this time around.  I really do love the language, it's so dynamic and expressive, so I hope I can at least attain a basic understanding of German sometime in my life.

 

I haven't been playing much recently, though for a while there I was playing with my Dad every night after he got off work.  But his computer is on the fritz right now, and I had gotten so used to finally having someone to play with that the thought of playing alone is just...depressing.  I think I might boot it up today anyway, just to see if the Halloween quest is as bad as people on the forums are making it out to be.  Or maybe I'll just bum around Niffelheim, since I'm not really interested in hat that functions as a combination of a Rideword Hat and a Fantastic Pumpkin-Head with the sprite of the Witch's Pumpkin Hat.  I have those three hats, I don't need duplicates.

 

So, I'm looking forward to the Ymir/Yggdrasil merge, though it doesn't seem as if anyone else is.  The god item issue is being handled as best as the team can manage, so I hope everyone can get past the hysterics and play nicely in the future.  N>PvM/leveling/non-WoE guild post-merge.

So I've been going through my Kafra on Ymir, and I have to say...it's a mess.  There is like, absolutely no semblance of order at all there.  I really need to go through and organize that mess, especially my miscellaneous section.  I used to have it so tidy, everything in related groups.

I have a lot of status effect arrows.  Are those useful at all PvM?  I know they're practically worthless in PvP/WoE, but I don't want to just chuck them if they can still be used on common monsters.  I should probably go bundle everything into quivers for easy storage and carrying.

 

Ymir has been really laggy for me lately.  I am a sad panda over this.  What's up with that?  There's only like, 150 - 200 people on at any given time.  Pls to be stabilizing server soon, Gravity?  Or, you know, just merge it in with Yggdrasil or Valkyrie.  Whichever is easiest on you.  I don't mind, really.

I spent almost all my zeny getting a pair of +7 Crystal Pumps for my alchemist.  Zeny well spent, I'd say.  <3

 

So, I've played around on Classic a bit and decided that while it's fun and nostalgic, it's just not for me.  I just don't have the time or the energy to play hardcore like I used to; Renewal, with its streamlined mechanics and gentler EXP curve, is much friendlier to casual players like me.  I'll probably have to transfer off of Ymir soon to Valk or Yggdrasil just so I can have people to party and chat with, but that's still a ways off for me.  In the meantime, I'll enjoy a smooth pace and lots of item farming with little to no competition.

 

Congratulations to my buddy Joe, who made his first ever Monk yesterday.  I used one of my Priests on my boy account to support him while he got some job levels, and ended up leveling a bit myself.  We make a pretty good team.  I need to go through my accounts and see if there's any gear I can let him have that will help him along a bit; his best piece of gear is the Shark Hat I gave him ages ago.  I'm pretty sure I have some better armor and weapons that I can give him to make leveling quicker and easier.

 

I actually have 30k iron arrows in storage.  I don't even know what happened there.  /swt

Grinding forever on Poporings in Poring Heaven is so relaxing, I shit you not.  I was playing with my buddy Joe today, he and I were partied up outside of Payon for a good three hours just killing at a leisurely pace and narrowly avoiding death by Angeling.  Also apparently Ghostring can't kill his level 27 mage, lol wut.

 

Got my Cat Lace Hairband on Ymir!  I put it on Liseur because it's great, DEX +3 and leaves the mid slot open for things like Elven Ears [1] or Mini-glasses [1] (thought I will miss the extra MDef from the Dark Randgris Helm).  Which reminds me, I need to get a slotted mid gear for her.

 

Every time I log on Ymir, there are less and less people on.  It's like a ghost town.  I hope that Grav does decide to merge the Renewal servers, and soon.  :<

Musings about Classic and some other things.

I've not been playing much recently, but I have snagged the names I wanted on Classic (*Flourine* and *Chlorine*, as well as a new name, Xue Fang).  I'd like to play Classic a bit more, but every time I try to log in the server crashes after a few minutes.  :<  So as you can imagine, my characters have not progressed very far.  *Chlorine*, of course, is an Archer going Dancer, and *Flourine* a merchant who will probably stay as such until the Homunculus patch is released.  Xue Fang is something a little bit different; she's going to be a battle Priest.  I've never played one before, so it'll be interesting.  I'll have to get Marlin to share some notes on how he made Sgt Kururu so fierce.

 

I really, REALLY want a Cat Lace Hairband on Ymir.  I've managed to save up to 13m, so I'm trucking right along towards that goal, but it's slow going since I don't really have a lot of stuff to sell.  I'd like to get my Fish in Mouth back, too, since I saw one for 30m not too long ago, but that will have to wait until later.  I'm loving the +7 Benevolent Guardian I picked up a while back, though.  Cute -and- useful, the best kind of headgear.  <3

 

I've been kind of...reclusive lately.  There's the usual problems contributing to that, of course, but also I took in a roommate this month, so I had to scramble to make room in the house for her and all her stuff.  And my LARP is coming up on its 3rd anniversary this month, so I've had to prepare myself for it since there's usually around 50 or so people for the anniversary game and I'll be graduating from being just a Narrator to a full Storyteller.  So, yeah.  That's a thing.  To tell the truth, I'm tempted to just run the fuck right away from that, but I already said I would and people are expecting me to go through with it, so...yeah.

 

In other news, I've developed an obessession with Emilie Autumn lately.  I've been listening to her Opheliac album almost nonstop, and I'm really looking forward to Fight Like A Girl.  Hopefully I will have some form of income when it's released, so I'll be able to get it.  My job search hasn't panned out, but I guess that's to be expected, since my last three jobs are listed as being terminated due to "illness."  It's not something I can help, but there it is.

 

So, Classic people.  Has the server stability improved since last maint, or has it been relatively stable all along and I'm just horribly unlucky about my log in times?  D:

Having a pre-Renewal server sounds interesting.  I don't know that I'd make a permanent move there, but I might make a character or two to fool around and relive the old days.  Good times.  <3

AVG blocked me from accessing Ragial.com this morning because it detected the Blackhole Exploit virus on the site.  The iRO Wiki is down and I don't know how to contact the owner of Ragial, so I thought I should at least let everyone here know that the site might be problematic.  If anyone here knows the site owner of Ragial.com, please let her/him know that the site is having problems.

I finally, finally, FINALLY got around to doing some worthwhile leveling on Filliah, and now she's a 100/8 Archbishop.  I'm really having fun with the group buffs, it makes supporting large, mobile parties so much easier (though smaller parties are still more efficient to use the standard buffs for).  I know some people don't like the AB dress/robe thingy, but I think it's floofy and cute.  I'm really enamored of my AB in general, and I'm glad I switched to using her as my main.  Her healing is fairly decent (1.9k with Blessing), but I think I can push it a little further if I got a Benevolent Guardian and a Holy Stick [1].  There's also my vanity to consider there; in addition to being good for healing, the B.Guardian is also really cute and goes well with the blue AB dress, which is my preferred color.  For now, though, I'm still using my +7 Dress Hat [1].  I haven't put a card in it yet because I don't really know what would be best (aside from a White Lady card, but that's just not happening).  I think maybe Isilla?  The Dress Hat will be passed off to Brandy when I get my Benevolent Guardian, so it's not going to waste in my Kafra and I should really find a good card for it.

 

I'm torn on whether or not to sell my Cat Ear Beret.  On the one hand, it's really expensive and selling it could net me the zeny I need to buy gear and supplies for myself and Brandy.  On the other, it was an early birthday gift from a friend of mine, plus it's super cute and I love cute things.  I think that if I decided to join a WoE guild on any of my characters I could get some use out of it, but I prefer PvM and MvP parties over PvP/WoE and would be most at home with a guild that focuses on those aspects.  Hmm.  Well, I have plenty of time to figure it out.

Got my Rideword Hat!  Bought an unupgraded one for 55m; I'd sold my Fish in Mouth for 75m, so I have a little left over to save up for the Benevolent Guardian I need for my HP.  The semester is coming to an end, so I plan on getting her to AB soon; already bought VIP and I'm about to log on and use the prize medals I built up from Daily Quen to give her a head start.  Kind of excited about getting her to 3rd class, so I hope to get that done as soon as possible after my final exam.

 

I have to admit, the temptation to get another Marduk card for my RWH was pretty high, but I just kept in mind that once I have 100 INT it won't be half as useful.  Instead, I decided to get a Blue Acidus card.  I missed on for cheap the other day, which made me a sad panda, but they pop up every once in a while so all I have to do is wait patiently.  In the meantime, I can focus on just getting levels for my characters; Alwyne is 89/50, almost 90, and Dalma is plugging along toward 99.  The others I've logged on every once in a while; I've leveled *Flourine*'s new Filir, Hermes, but I haven't really done anything to get her any EXP.  I've mostly used Nehelenia. to hunt for items, and I just play around on Liseur and Breo for fun.  I haven't touched my poor Linker in a while; I really should do something about that, but it's so frustrating trying to level her.  I mean, she's VIT/INT ka- build, so it's nearly impossible to kill her, but all her other stats are pretty low right now so she takes FOREVER to kill even a single enemy in her level range.  I could do TIs with her, but she's practically useless unless another Linker uses the SL link on her.  I'd feel bad joining a TI group and not be able to contribute anything.  Maybe I should respec her to es- build caster until I get her to 99/50?  I dunno.

 

I might have a job as a dog bather at my vet's office this summer!  It's only part time, but I'd get to work with animals and I wouldn't have to deal with many people, which is an ideal situation.  So hopefully that will work out.  :D

I have a new Filir; his name is Hermes.  I really like him, even though he's not very high level yet.  But I haven't really been leveling him lately.  As much as I like him and his stats and just how fucking adorable he is, I'm still kind of mourning my old Amistr, Foster, and what could have been if only pre-renewal homunculi had not gotten completely fucked.  Seriously, Grav, what the hell did you do to our old homunculi?  Why did you have to ruin my poor sheep's shit like that?  :<

 

But enough about that.

 

I haven't really been doing a whole lot lately on RO.  Like I've said before, I don't play that much while I'm in school.  However, I have been doing quite a bit of item hunting in the field around the Kiel Hyre Academy and the entrance to Robofactory.  For some reason, even when I was VIP I wasn't getting a lot of the Winds of Verdure I was trying to hunt.  Weird.  But they sell really well when I can get them so it's a good way to spend my free time and try to build up a little capital for a Rideword Hat.  I've noticed something strange about Grand Pecos, though.  They're supposed to assist one another when one of them gets attacked, right?  Well, the assist doesn't seem to proc at 100% like it should.  Half the time when I go to attack a G.Peco, his buddies just sit around doing nothing.  The other half the time, only one or two of the other G.Pecos in the vicinity will go to aid their friend when I start wailing on him.  It's really bizarre.  I mean, I'm not complaining, because that works out perfectly for my undergeared gankster, but it's just a bit of wonky mechanics I couldn't help but notice.

 

I had to spend a little zeny--a lot, actually--to get a Four Leaf Clover so that I could up *Flourine*'s potting rates a little bit, so I'm not anywhere near where I need to be in savings right now.  But Brandy managed to get her Rideword Hat, so that's one less thing I need to save for.  (She said I could borrow hers when she's not using it.  She's awesome like that.  <3)  But I do love my new FLC.  Not only is it absolutely adorable, but the extra LUK has raised my potting success rates just enough to make brewing blues a less frustrating enterprise.  Which is awesome, really, I always dreaded making blues because I only had like a 55-60% success rate.  Now it's about 65%, which while not ideal is still a much needed improvement.

 

I ran into my old friend Zeke a couple of days ago, and we went to Niff to play around and get some EXP.  He didn't seem to be feeling it; he complained about how boring leveling was and how he's not really into the game anymore.  I felt sad to hear him say it, but I didn't know what I could say to make him feel better.  I probably won't see him again for a while. 

 

Would anyone on Ymir be in the market for a Fish in Mouth?  It's a cute and useful headgear, but I really need the zeny and can't afford to hoard anything that's not useful for all or at least most of my characters.  I'm looking to sell for anywhere between 50m (the price from about two months ago) and 70m (what it seems to be going for on the market now).  I'm also looking to sell a Koneko Hat (6m) and a Red Pirate Bandana [1] (2m).  If you're interested in any of these, leave a comment here.  I'll be off and on for most of the day today, as I seem to have come down with a nasty case of food poisoning.

Oh God I'm addicted to the Lunar New Year quest.  I have like five dragon helms and I keep picking up dropped petite eggs.  I HAVE SO MANY PETITE EGGS WTF WILL I DO WITH THEM ALL ASDFJKL;  I will be so sad when the event is over.  So much fun.  *__*  I should probably try to get a Silver Dragon Helm or a Gold Dragon Helm before the event ends, but I don't really feel like spending that much zeny on elu and e.elu/hd elu.

 

Slowly but surely inching my way forward to AB.  The LNY quest is actually pretty good EXP for Filliah, I just wish it didn't have a 23 hour cooldown period.  :<  I guess that's there so people like me don't abuse it to powerlevel every non-third character they have.  Anyway.  I think I'm going to skip Silentium so I can rework her projected skill build to include Sacrement, since it's such a useful and desirable skill.  I'll miss you, AoE Lex Divina.  But oh well.  At least I have you, Epiclesis.  I noticed that the price of Holy Stick [1] has fallen.  Is the Affection set that much better for healing than the Benevolent Guardian + Holy Stick [1] combo?  It might be something for me to look into if that's the case.  Though I imagine it's going to be expensive--maybe I should just level *Chlorine* so I can go through the Mora quests and get my own?  /hmm

My kitchen is fixed, my sister gave me her old computer to use until I can get a new AC cord for mine, I got Brandy's Nid Mant, and I just sold an Observer I found rotting in my Kafra for 85m.  I had completely forgotten I even HAD an Observer.  All is right with the world.

The storms that blew through Alabama earlier this week caused a bit of damage to my house--nothing huge, but it did render my kitchen unusable due to a big ass hole in my ceiling--so I've been staying at my folks' house for the past couple of days.  Because of this, I've been able to log into RO and take my mind off of the wonderful water damage I'll have to fix this weekend.

 

I managed to get enough zeny to buy the Nid mant I needed, and then I sold a bunch of other crap and now I almost have enough to buy one for Brandy as well.  I haven't decided yet whether or not I'm going to save up for Raydric cards for both of them, or just get Noxious cards instead, but it's one step closer to having functional Wanderers again.  Rideword Hats are as expensive as ever, but I'll get a couple of them for us eventually.  Hopefully they'll be put back in future lucky boxes again, or else something better will come along that will cause the price to sink a bit.  I'm not sure what kind of cards we should put in them.  The chance for Crit +100 from Vanberk is nice, but the STR +2 isn't useful for ranged attacks and we won't be doing a lot of Ctrl+click-ing anyway.  Blue Acidus might work, since she and I are both paranoid about breakage in upgrading and usually don't go past the safe zone; SP recovery +5% will help quite a bit with the horrific SP drain that Severe Rainstorm is.  Getting another couple of Marduk cards for us is tempting, but once we reach 100 VIT it won't be as useful and will pretty much be a wasted slot.  Is there a DEX-boosting headgear card?  I don't know.

 

The Lunar New Year quest is really fun and pretty challenging.  Or at least, it was for my glass-cannon, undergeared Wanderer; I ended up getting squished by the Mysteltain clone a couple of times before a Geneticist came along and helped me out.  I had a much easier time of it killing the blue dragon thingy; I think I might have accidentally gotten one someone else had weakened.  I wish this quest had been party instanced so that things like that wouldn't happen, I feel awful thinking that someone might have to wait for it to respawn and start all over again.  :<  But!  I got a Copper Dragon Helm, which actually looks pretty spiffy and has some decent stats; the only way it could be better is if it had a slot.  I'm contemplating doing the quest on some of my other characters so I can try to get a Silver Dragon Helm and a Gold Dragon Helm, but I'm not sure yet if I want to do it more than once.  The novelty might wear off.

 

I haven't done the "Find Victoria" quest yet.  Is it any fun?
