March 13, 2010 - Orc Wisdom
I beat Final Fantasy XIII last Monday just before it got released in English. It was a crazy trip. To prevent further spoilers, I'll just babble about it below the RO stuff.
Got Stalker to 77. He now has Preserve. In all honesty, I transed him just so I could tease Sara some more. First Aid spam. Anyway, I leveled him at Goats. During the drop event, I farmed for Wind of Verdures using HE Bubble Gum. Got a decent amount for the next ID3 run.

This was the first time I've seen anyone walking while sleeping. Learn something new on RO every day.
I finally got a Zephyrus. It was a lot easier to find than a Wind Lance, that's for sure. Heck, I was starting to think I'd have to make a Pureforge just for the sake of making one. Anyway, I took it for a spin in good ol' Byalan. The EXP was good, the place is easy enough to solo and I got to hunt for 3s Tridents! Though none dropped yet.

Yup, I got an Orc pet. Throughout RO, Sara's always loved RO pets while I thought they were kinda annoying. Now, I'm eating my words since I've grown kinda attached to Orc. I got it for the stat boosts. Really. >_>; Gray uses a Lunatic pet for the atk/crit bonus while Joey... well, he already has a Soul Linker pet wife. Everyone else gets a chance to have Orc tag along. Nice that Orc's intimacy stays at loyal, even after trading him to other accounts. Oh yeah, his name is Orc. I had no idea what else to name him, so I named him Orc. He just seemed like 'Orc'.

Yep, that's Tris in the last 2 screenshots! I finally coerced her to come to Iris and make that Battle Priest. Now it's time to drag her out for parties at every turn. Uwahaha.
Though, speaking of which, it looks like the GMs are planning another server merge. I can't say that I'm surprised. I actually expected this coming after the last 2 MERGE IRIS OR BUST threads on the iRO forums. I'll just wait to see what the GMs plan before making any preparations, though.
So... back to FF13...some spoiler alert!
I beat the game last Monday. Got a nice Hope-based theme. So far, I have Sazh, Vanille and Hope's themes. I put up Vanille 'cause she's a cutie.
FF13 was a real trip from beginning to end. I loved the plot, but the thing I liked most was the characters. They were just like characters from Persona games: At the beginning, they're highly annoying and I wonder why these people are my friends. During the course of the game, they grow, change, resolve their differences, etc. Thus, by the end, they're the trusted party members that I'm sad to see go. Strange to say, but... yeah.
I used these setups. Sorry, Japanese names since this was in the Japanese version:
Fang/Hope/Vanille
Attacker/Blaster/Blaster
Attacker/Blaster/Healer
Defender/Healer/Healer (works better than Healer x 3 because Fang can lure enemies, in theory)
Attacker/Enhancer/Blaster
Attacker/Blaster/Jammer
Jammer/Enhancer/Jammer
Why Attacker/Enhancer/Blaster and Attacker/Blaster/Jammer instead of Attacker/Enhancer/Jammer? I just wanted to keep up the offense. It works pretty well.
For those complaining that FF13 is easy now, the enemies get crazy after Chapter 11 when you can switch the party members. Great fun, though.
That last boss is like Russian Roulette. After awhile, he starts casting Death randomly. Even wearing a bunch of crowns to nullify death, he still nailed the party leader a few times. =_=; I used a party of Vanille/Fang/Hope. Fang is the best attacker, Hope is the best spellcaster and Vanille has death (plus, she's cute). Normally, Hope is the party leader just for the Enhancer buffs, but I put Vanille as the leader because apparently, the final form of the last boss is vulnerable to death after his guard breaks. Though, in the heat of things, I forgot to use it. Ha ha... /swt
I got FF13 in English now. Got a nifty poster of Lightning and Hero-san-- er, Snow, plus the hardcover guide. Gonna play it in English, then play it through again in Japanese. It's kinda weird listening to the English voices, too, especially Hope's. One of the little things I've noticed is that while switching the default Optimas--er, Paradigms, is that in the US version, they highlight the default. The Japanese version has a little flag beside the default.
That's all for now.
